After already investing in space exploration, Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos is now committing his extensive resources to a neuroscience research.
Bezos and his wife MacKenzie are donating $15 million to Princeton University to establish a center for neuroscience research.
The Bezos Center for Neural Circuit Dynamics will be part of the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, a new division that was only officially launched in 2006. Researchers at the center will look at brain activity and attempt to piece together more information about how the brain works.
“New tools and techniques are making possible discoveries that would have been unthinkable just two decades ago,” Bezos said in a statement. “We can hope for advancements that lead to understanding deep behaviors, more effective learning methods for young children, and cures for neurological diseases. MacKenzie and I are delighted and excited to support Princeton in their focus on fundamental neuroscience.”
